BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Senior
Laura Waddell recorded her third consecutive double-figure kill performance with a season-high 17 to help the Radford volleyball team top Gardner-Webb, 3-1 (25-20, 25-17, 22-25, 25-10), in Big South action Friday night at the Paul Porter Arena.
The victory improves the Highlanders to 9-19 and 3-10 in the conference, while the Bulldogs drop 5-22 and remain winless in the league.
In addition to Waddell's season-high and a .267 hitting percentage,
Carly Fleming also recorded double-figure kills with 12, just three errors (.375) and three block solos, while
Mariah Nussbaum charted a season-high 8 kills, a .312 hitting percentage and two solo blocks.
Sophomore
Desiree Aramburu led both setters with 49 assists and 12 digs for her 12th double-double of 2010.
Defensively, junior
Katelyn Meeks picked up 34 digs followed by
Kiley Kent and
Yacine Meyer with 13 and 11, respectively.
As a team, the Highlanders did not have trouble finding the floor with 58 kills and a season-high .367 hitting percentage, while holding the Bulldogs to a .051 clip with just 34 kills.
Laura Wilcox and Molly Rhyne led Gardner-Webb recording double-figure kills with 10, while Evan Moffitt put up 27 assists and 12 digs at the setter position.
Radford will conclude its four-match road trip with a 4 p.m. contest against conference-foe Presbyterian Saturday.
