Pregame Notes
-- After playing three straight on the road, Radford returns home for its conference opener Thursday evening when it hosts UNC Asheville in a 7 p.m. tip at the Dedmon Center.
-- The Highlanders enter the 58th all-time meeting 2-3 on the young season following a 73-52 setback at Charlotte Saturday.
-- Despite the loss, Jareal Smith (Savannah, Ga./Johnson) led Radford with a season-high 16 points, while fellow newcomer Johnathan Edwards (Queens, N.Y./Tyler JUCO) added 11 points and nine rebounds.
-- Gorkem Sonmez (10.2 ppg) (Istanbul, Turkey) is the only Highlander averaging double figures through five games.
-- Edwards, who is second on the club in scoring and field-goal percentage, leads the Highlanders in rebounding at 6.4 boards per outing.
-- Since joining the Big South Conference in 1985-86, the Highlanders are 11-14 all-time in conference openers, but are 15-10 in league home openers.
-- Radford has won six of its last eight home contests against the Bulldogs, including three straight.
-- The Highlanders will conclude their brief conference homestand with a 7 p.m. contest against Gardner-Webb Saturday.

Scouting the Bulldogs
-- UNC Asheville returns four starters and 11 letterwinners from last year's club that finished 15-16 overall and fourth in the Big South (11-7) after beginning the 2009-10 season 3-12.
-- The Bulldogs are coached by the conference's all-time winningest coach Eddie Biedenbach, who is just two wins shy of his 200th career victory at UNC Asheville.
-- In the middle of a five game road swing, the Bulldogs enter 2-4 overall following a double-overtime setback at USC Upstate Monday evening.
-- Perhaps the best and most experienced backcourt in the Big South, Matt Dickey (18.3/.417) and J.P. Primm (18.2/.415) lead UNC Asheville in scoring and 3-point shooting. The duo is also pulling down at least four rebounds per game from the guard position. Primm and Dickey also ranked third and fourth in the league in scoring.
-- D.J. Cunningham is also contributing double figures for the Bulldogs, while leading the club in rebounding at 9.5 per outing, which is also third in the league.
-- As a team, UNCA is averaging 11.8 steals per contest, which is seventh nationally.
