BOX SCORE

GREENSBORO, N.C. –
Kahealani Vick recorded her first collegiate double-double, but it wasn't enough as Radford dropped a 73-58 decision at UNC Greensboro, Saturday afternoon from Fleming Gymnasium.

Vick finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds, both career highs. Brooke McElroy pulled down a career-best 15 boards as the Highlanders (2-6) out rebounded the Spartans 45-37.

UNCG's Amanda Leigh led all scorers with 23 points, hitting 5-of-8 three pointers.

Radford erased an early second half nine-point UNCG lead (35-26) with a 11-2 run that was capped off by Vick's old-fashioned three-point play, tying the game (37-37) at 13:49.

After one more tie at 39-all, Monique Floyd's three-point play at 11:03 put the Spartans up for good, 42-39. Radford would get within one possession three more times, before a 10-0 run put the Spartans up 61-48 with 4:13 to play.

Floyd added 19 points, 14 in the second half for the Spartans.

Radford finished the game shooting 36 percent (23-64), while UNCG shot 47 percent (28-59), including a blistering 62 percent (18-29) in the first half.

UNCG used a 12-1 first half run to take a 26-21 lead into half time. Both teams struggled from the floor as Radford shot 31 percent and the Spartans, 33 percent.

Following a Ciara Hayes bucket at 14:28 that put the Highlanders up 8-7, UNCG went on its run to grab a 19-9 lead before Radford ended an 8:37 field drought on a layup from Breshara Gordon.

Six straight points from Vick during a 10-3 Radford run cut its deficit to three (22-19) before UNCG grabbed its five-point halftime advantage.

Vick finished the half with eight points. Leigh led all scorers at the break with 10 points.

Radford will hit the books next week for finals and then return to action on Saturday, Dec. 18 at USC Upstate. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
