RADFORD, VA. -- Radford women's basketball returns to action after the Christmas holiday to host Richmond Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Dedmon Center. The Highlanders, currently on a four-game slide, are looking to head into the New Year on a positive note in their final non-conference game of the season.
Game Notes
The Spiders, winners of four straight, were supposed to host Boston University on Tuesday, but the game was postponed due to the blizzard hampering travel plans. Their last contest was a 66-50 victory at Towson on Dec. 22.
In its last contest, Radford fell to VCU, 79-49, at home on Dec. 23. The Rams went on a 12-0 run in the first half and did not look back.
Erica Rivera led the Highlanders with 11 points and a career-high five steals. Junior Da'Naria Erwin Spencer added 10 points and five thefts, while senior
Denay Wood pulled down a team-best eight rebounds for the Highlanders.

This will be the 14th matchup in the series with Radford holding a slim 7-6 advantage. Richmond has won the last three contests, including a 74-40 victory on Dec. 21, 2009. The last head-to-head battle in the Dedmon Center was taken by the Spiders, 90-72 Dec. 19, 1998. The Highlanders are 5-1 at home and 3-1 in the DC against the Spiders.

The Highlanders will face their second straight 20-point scorer as Richmond boasts Brittani Shells, who averages 20.7 ppg, hitting 51.6 percent of her shots, including a blistering 43 percent from long range.
Radford opens up its 25th season of Big South play on the road at UNC Asheville on Jan. 3 at 7 p.m.
