Scouting the Highlanders
-- Radford will play its first of two straight Colonial Athletic Association members Saturday evening when James Madison comes to the Dedmon Center for a 7 p.m. tip.

-- The Highlanders come into the 12th all-time meeting with the Dukes 2-6 after falling at Virginia Tuesday, 54-44.

-- Despite the hard-fought setback, Radford held the Cavaliers to just 27.7 percent shooting, including a 4-of-24 (.167) showing in the second half.

-- Both clubs went through lengthy scoring droughts as the Highlanders were held without a field goal for almost 17 minutes, while Virginia was limited to just one basket over a 13-minute span.

-- Gorkem Sonmez (Istanbul, Turkey), who continues to pace Radford in scoring at 11.4 per game, led the Highlanders in Charlottesville with a game-high 15 points and a personal-best six rebounds.

-- In its last two contests, Radford is holding opponents to just 34.7 percent from the floor.

-- After a seven-day break for exams, the Highlanders will play four of their next five on the road beginning with a Dec. 18 contest at UNC Wilmington. Radford's contest with the Seahawks is a return game from last year's Bracketbusters.

Scouting the Dukes
-- After dropping its first game of the season at No. 3 Kansas State, James Madison (6-3) reeled off six straight wins, but has dropped two in a row to Georgia State and Marshall coming into Saturday's matchup.

-- The Dukes lead the all-time series with Radford 9-2 and have won the last four meetings, including a 67-63 decision in Harrisonburg a year ago. The last two contests between the in-state foes have been decided by four points each.

-- The in-state showdown at the Dedmon Center will be the Dukes' fourth contest in a five-game stretch away from home.

-- Denzel Bowles and Rayshawn Goins anchor the post presence for JMU. Bowles leads the Dukes in points (17.8), rebounds (8.6) and field goal percentage (67.5 percent), and is second on the team in assists (25) and blocks (11). His field goal percentage ranks eighth nationally in Division I, while recording a double-double in five of the last six games. Goins is averaging 14.3 points, 8.0 rebounds and is also shooting over 50 percent from the field.

-- In addition to the frontcourt duo of Bowles and Goins, Devon Moore (12.7) is also averaging double figures, while the entire starting lineup is contributing at least nine points per game.

-- James Madison has made a living at the charity stripe, shooting 44 more than its opponents, while converting 70.2 percent (144-205) of its attempts.
