RADFORD, Va. –
With the No. 2 seed in next week's Big South Tournament on the line, Radford will conclude its 2009-10 regular season with a 4 p.m. televised (MASN) contest against Winthrop on “Senior Day” Saturday.

On Thursday, Art Parakhouski (Minsk, Belarus) recorded his nation-leading 23rd double-double (24 points, 11 rebounds), leading four players in double figures for the Highlanders in a 75-58 victory over Presbyterian.

Parakhouski finished with a 9-for-15 performance from the field and a 6-for-7 showing at the free throw line to help Radford (17-11, 12-5 Big South) to its sixth win in seven February games.

Joey Lynch-Flohr (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax), Laz Trifunovic (Belgrade, Serbia) and Gorkem Sonmez (Istanbul, Turkey) also recorded double digits for the Highlanders with 10 points each. Trifunovic added 10 rebounds for his ninth double-double of the season.

Radford, which finished with 20 assists on 29 field goals and a season-low seven turnovers, closed the first half on a 20-4 run and didn't allow the Blue Hose closer than 13 the rest of the way.

Prior to Saturday's contest, Radford will honor its senior quintet of Cole Wilder (Wytheville, Va./George Wythe), Phillip Martin (Roanoke, Va./Roanoke Catholic), Amir Johnson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Quaker Valley), Parakhouski and Lynch-Flohr.

Along with being 6-1 in February, the Highlanders are shooting 50 percent (194-388) from the floor this month and 43.4 percent (36-83) from downtown. Defensively, their holding opponents to just 36.6 percent (59-177) overall, while averaging 11.6 more rebounds per contest.

Winthrop (16-12, 12-5 Big South) enters the 57th all-time meeting tied with Radford for second place in the conference standings. The Highlanders currently own the tiebreaker based on their 61-59 overtime win, which came in the first league game of the season, almost three months ago in Rock Hill.

The Eagles, winners of 11 of their last 14 contests, suffered a 71-66 setback at High Point on Thursday evening.

Despite shooting above its season average (.380) and placing four in double figures, Winthrop sent the Panthers to the line 37 times. High Point connected on 73 percent (27-37) of its tries, while the Eagles went just 15-for-22 (.682).

Matt Morgan paced Winthrop with 15 points on 7 of 9 shooting, while Robbie Dreher and Mantoris Robinson contributed 13 points each and Reggie Middleton added 12.

As a team, Winthrop is worst in the league in field-goal percentage and 3-point shooting (.245), but only turns the ball over a league-best 12.6 times per contest.

Both clubs have locked up a home contest in the quarterfinals of next week's 2010 Big South Men's Basketball Tournament, which begins on Tuesday evening.
