RADFORD, Va. -- Playing in its 24th league tournament, Radford enters the 2009-10 Advance Auto Parts Big South Tournament as the seventh seed and will face second-seed Liberty on Friday at the Millis Center in High Point, N.C.

Radford is taking part in its 24th Big South Tournament when it faces Liberty for the sixth time in tournament play.

The Highlanders, who are 32-13 all-time in the tournament, hold a 3-2 advantage in the series against the Lady Flames. Radford won the first two meetings, while Liberty has won two of the last three.

Radford and Liberty have met in the quarterfinals one other time. In 1994, the Highlanders earned a 80-70 victory on March 10 at Spectator Gymnasium in Greensboro, N.C. The Highlanders are 11-7 all-time in quarterfinal matchups.

The victory propelled Radford to its fifth straight championship and seventh overall. It also marked the first ever trip to the NCAA tournament for women's basketball.

In the last tournament matchup between the teams, Megan Frazee hit a three-footer in the paint as time expired, giving the Lady Flames a 66-65 victory in the 2008 championship game on March 16 from the Justice Center in Asheville, N.C.

Liberty swept the regular season series after 66-33 triumph on March 7 from the Vines Center.

Avery Warley recorded a game-high 17 points on 7-for-9 shooting, and 12 rebounds for the Lady Flames. LaKendra Washington was a perfect 5-for-5 and added 14 points. Jelena Antic and Devon Brown chipped in with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Juniors Kaylyn Crosier and Denay Wood, who hit a pair of threes each, led the Highlanders with eight points apiece.

In the first meeting on February 1, Liberty defeated the Highlanders 63-45 from the Dedmon Center. Devon Brown finished with a game-high 20 points for the Lady Flames and 11 rebounds hitting 6-of-12 from the floor and 8-of-9 from the free throw line. Kylee Beecher was a rebound shy of a double-double with 13 points and nine boards. She also tied three other Lady Flames with a game-best three steals.

Radford, who had its three-game home winning streak snapped, was led by freshman Da'Naria Erwin Spencer  with 10 points, going a perfect 6-for-6 from the charity stripe.

This season, Radford is paced by redshirt senior Kymesha Alston who is averaging a team-best 12.3 points and 6.0 rebounds, ranking her eighth and 10th in the league, respectively.

As of late, Crosier has been more of a focal point on offense and her production has improved. She is averaging 11 points in the last three contests, which includes a career-best 17 at Presbyterian on February 27.

As a team, Radford ranks 20th in the NCAA and second in the Big South steals at 11.0 per contest. Wood is a big part of that, ranking seventh in the league at two thefts per game.

Liberty has won seven straight and 16 of its last 17 after concluding the regular season with a 73-48 home victory over High Point on Monday.

The Lady Flames are paced by Devon Brown and Warley. Brown averages a league-best 16.5 points and is third in rebounding (8.4). Warley, who shoots a league-best 59.6 percent, drops in 11.3 points per contest and is second in the Big South, pulling down 8.7 rebounds per game.

Liberty is tops in the NCAA in rebounding margin (14.8), second in scoring defense, fifth in field goal percentage, seventh in scoring margin and eighth in field goal percentage defense.

Should the Highlanders win, they will face the winner of #3 High Point and #6 Winthrop at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 13.
