PARAKHOUSKI NAMED TO COLLEGEHOOPS.NET MID-MAJOR ALL-AMERICA TEAM

RADFORD, Va.
– On the heels of being named to the USWBA All-District team, Radford's Art Parakhouski has been selected to the 2010 CollegeHoops.net Mid-Major All-America first team, as recently announced.

In addition to leading the country in rebounding (13.4) and double-doubles (26), the two-time Big South Player of the Year ranks among national leaders in scoring (12th/21.4) and field-goal percentage (9th/.581).

Named the league's Player of the Week four times in 2009-10, Parakhouski scored in double figures in a league-best 33 straight contests, which included five 30-point efforts and 20 performances with at least 20 points.

Two months after recording just the second 20-20 (26 points, 20 rebounds) game in school history at Duquesne (11/29), Parakhouski charted the first 30-20 performance in the program's 36 years with 30 points and a school single-game record 22 rebounds at VMI on Feb. 2.

Also in the Highlanders' 111-84 victory at VMI, Parakhouski became tied for sixth quickest player in league history to reach the 1,000-point plateau, needing just 55 contests. In just two seasons, the 2009 AP All-America Honorable Mention selection ranks among Radford's career leaders in points, scoring average, rebounds, rebounding average, field-goal percentage, field goals made, free throws made and blocked shots.

Just the fourth player in Big South history to repeat as player of the year, Parakhouski is the first Highlander to win the award more than once.
