WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS IN REGULAR SEASON FINALE AT LIBERTY

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Led by Avery Warley's double-double, Liberty put four players in double figures and shot 51 percent to defeat Radford, 66-33, Friday evening from the Vines Center.

Warley recorded a game-high 17 points on 7-for-9 shooting, and 12 rebounds for the Lady Flames (23-5, 13-2 Big South). LaKendra Washington was a perfect 5-for-5 and added 14 points. Jelena Antic and Devon Brown chipped in with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Juniors Kaylyn Crosier (South Charleston, W.Va./South Charleston) and Denay Wood (Bailey's Crossroads, Va./Annandale), who hit a pair of threes each, led the Highlanders (6-21, 5-11) with eight points apiece.

Liberty broke open a one-point game (8-7) with a 19-4 run and took a 29-17 lead into halftime.

The Lady Flames shot 44 percent and controlled the glass 28-12, limiting Radford to just two defensive rebounds. However, Radford, which shot just 22.6 percent, forced 15 Liberty turnovers to score over half (9) of its 17 first-half points.

Liberty extended its lead to 20 (41-21) in the first 6:43 of the second half. After Radford cut it 17 on Wood's second triple of the game, the Lady Flames would push the margin back to 20, where it would stay the rest of the way.

The Lady Flames out-rebounded the Highlanders, 46-23. Freshman Victoria Hamilton (St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands/Antilles School) grabbed a team-high six boards for Radford.

Each team turned the ball over 23 times with Radford recording 12 steals, four by freshman Ema Reskoska (Ohrid, Macedonia/Veritas Acadamy) and three by Hamilton.

Radford returns to action Friday against the Lady Flames in the first round of the 2010 Advance Auto Parts Big South Women's Basketball Tournament. The three-day tourney will be hosted by High Point University.
