FLORENCE, S.C. – Paced by
Wade Wawner and
Paul Woodson, who are both currently at two-over par, the Radford men's golf team sits in eighth (584) place after day one of the Spring Hill Suites Intercollegiate Monday.
The two-day/54-hole tournament and fall opener is being played on the par-72, 7,062-yard course at the Country Club of South Carolina.
Wawner and Woodson are currently tied for 29th in a 79-player field and are 11 strokes behind the individual leader, Chris Robb of Chattanooga.
As a team, the Highlanders (295-289 = 584) are just six strokes out of fifth place, currently held by Furman and Samford.
Georgia College sits atop the team leaderboard with a 36-hole total of 14-under 562.
The afternoon rounds were especially strong for Radford as it climbed from 10th to eighth by shooting six strokes better than its morning total.

Lane Hite find themselves one stroke behind Woodson and Wawner, at three-over 147.
Competing in his first collegiate tournament, freshman
Matt Harman sits at five-over 149 in a tie for 42nd.
The final 18 holes will be contested on Tuesday, beginning with morning tee times.
