CARLIN NAMED BIG SOUTH FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

RADFORD, Va. – Emily Carlin of the Radford volleyball team was named Big South Freshman of the Week for the matches played Sept. 6-12 announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
Carlin put away 38 kills for an average of 3.45 kills per set to lead the Highlanders to a 3-0 record last week.
She got her week started with 10 kills, five digs, three aces and one block as Radford downed Chicago State, 3-0, on Sept. 9.
In the opener of the DePaul Invitational, Carlin posted 13 kills, a .235 attack percentage and 11 digs in the 3-0 win over Georgia State. She capped the event with 15 kills, 14 digs, a block and two aces to lift the Highlanders to the 3-2 win over the Blue Demons and tournament title.
For her efforts, Carlin earned MVP of the DePaul Invitational.
"Em has done a very nice job adjusting to the collegiate game and continues to get better with each match we play," commented three-year head coach Marci Jenkins. "She has had three really good weeks for us so I am very thrilled that the Big South was able to recognize her accomplishments from this past weekend."
Radford returns to action this week Charleston, S.C. for the C of C Tournament Thursday, September 17 to take on Central Michigan at 4:30 p.m.
