Scouting the Highlanders
-- Radford will conclude its brief homestand with a 7 p.m. contest against conference / in-state foe Liberty Saturday evening at the Dedmon Center.

-- The 57th meeting between the Highlanders and Liberty will be televised on the Flames Sports Network and MASN (Tape Delayed).

-- Radford leads the all-time series, 33-23, but the Flames have won the last two at the Dedmon Center.

-- The Highlanders enter 4-12 overall and 1-5 in the Big South following a 105-71 setback to VMI Thursday.

-- Despite the loss, Johnathan Edwards (Queens, N.Y./Tyler Junior College) led four Radford players in double figures with 13 points to go along with a game-high nine rebounds. Blake Smith (Charlotte, N.C./United Faith Christian Academy), Evan Faulkner (Sandy Hook, Ky./Elliott County) and Jareal Smith (Savannah, Ga./Johnson) added 10 points each.

-- Gorkem Sonmez (Istanbul, Turkey) continues to lead the club in scoring at 10.1 points per game, while shooting a team-best 37.1 percent (27-72) from behind the 3-point line, which also ranks among the Top-5 in the Big South.

-- Edwards and Tolga Cerrah (Ankara, Turkey) lead the way on the glass averaging just under six boards a game.

-- Radford will close out the first half of its conference slate next week with a Thursday night contest at Winthrop before traveling to Presbyterian Saturday evening.

Scouting the Flames
-- The Flames return three starters and seven letterwinners from last year's team that went 15-16 overall and 10-8 in the league.

-- Liberty enters 12-7 overall and 6-1 in the Big South Conference following a 66-60 win at High Point Thursday evening.

-- Currently second in the league standings, the Flames are led in scoring by Evan Gordon (14.5) and John Brown (11.5).

-- Brown also leads the conference in rebounding at 10.1 per contest, which ranks 20th in the country. The 6-4 junior has three straight double-doubles and nine on the season.

-- Liberty's most versatile player, Jesse Sanders, recently became the 18th player in League history to record 400 assists. The junior guard is just four rebounds shy of becoming the first player in Big South history with 400 assists and 500 rebounds. Last week against Charleston Southern, he added to his own Big South record by collecting his third career triple-double.

-- In addition to his Big South records, Sanders currently ranks 12th in the nation in assists per game (6.2) and is one of only two players averaging at least six assists and six rebounds a game.

-- As a team, the Flames are outrebounding their opponents by 6.6 per outing, while shooting 71 percent from the charity stripe.
