When the Highlanders (6-10, 3-0 Big South) tip-off against the Eagles (7-7, 1-1) for the 60th time, they will be looking for their first 4-0 start in the Big South since the 1997-98 season.
Being the 60th meeting between the schools, it is the most games Radford has played against one school in program history. The Highlanders lead the series, 51-8 after each squad won on their home court last season.
Radford is coming off a thrilling 68-63 overtime win against High Point on Monday in the Dedmon Center, while Winthrop looks to rebound from a 48-45 defeat against Gardner-Webb on Tuesday.
In the win over the Panthers, Radford improved to 3-0 in the league for the first time since 2006-07 and inched one victory closer to 600 with its 598th triumph.
The Highlanders were paced by the offensive output of Big South Player of the Week, Da'Naria Erwin Spencer in their past two games. She averaged 20.5 points, six rebounds and three steals in wins over Gardner-Webb and High Point to earn her second weekly honor this season.
On the year, Erwin Spencer is averaging a team-best 13.7 points and 2.7 steals per game, ranking her third in the league in both categories. She is also the early season Big South leader in scoring (16.7 ppg) and steals (3.0 spg) in conference only contests.
The Eagles are paced by freshman guard Dequesha McClanahan. The reigning Big South Freshman of the Week, averages a team-best 12.5 points, 3.8 assists and 2.6 steal per game. She also pulls down 4.6 rebounds per contest, which is third on the squad.
The Highlanders remain on the road, traveling to Liberty on Monday, Jan. 17 to face the Lady Flames at 7 p.m.
