Pregame Notes
Coming off a three-game homestand, Radford will conclude its first half of the Big South schedule this weekend beginning with a 7 p.m. contest at Winthrop Thursday evening.

The Highlanders enter the 59th all-time meeting 4-13 overall and 1-6 in the league following a 61-53 loss to Liberty this past Saturday at the Dedmon Center.

Despite the loss, sophomore Blake Smith (Charlotte, N.C. / United Faith Christian Academy) led four Radford players in double figures with 13 points, to go along with five rebounds, four steals and three assists in 24 minutes off the bench.

Dating back to the Highlanders' Dec. 18th contest at UNC Wilmington, Smith has recorded 24 steals (3.0 spg). A member of the 2010 Big South All-Freshman Team, the 6-4 guard ranks 20th in the nation in steals per contest averaging 2.3 per contest.

In addition to placing four players in double figures against the Flames, Radford recorded 11 steals and committed a season-low eight turnovers.

The Highlanders, who lead the all-time series with Winthrop, 31-27, have won four of the last five meetings.

Prior to the 2008-09 season, the Eagles had recorded 12 straight wins over Radford.

Winthrop has suffered just 27 home losses over the last 13 years, four of which have come to the Highlanders.

Scouting the Eagles
Winthrop, last year's Big South tournament champion, enters 7-10 overall and 3-4 in the league following a 69-60 setback at Charleston Southern over the weekend.

The Eagles have won nine of the last 12 Big South Tournaments.

Like the Highlanders, Winthrop has struggled on the offensive end of the floor, but rank second in the league in field-goal percentage defense (.409) and fourth in scoring defense (67.5).

As a team, Winthrop ranks second behind Coastal Carolina in fewest turnovers. The Eagles are committing just 13.1 miscues per contest.

Robbie Dreher leads the club in scoring (13.7 ppg), 3-point field-goal percentage (.420) and free-throw percentage (.736). In conference play, the sophomore is averaging just under 16 points per game.

Andre Jones, who is the only Eagle to start all 17 games this season, is also averaging double figures, contributing 11.4 per outing.

Despite playing just nine contests, Charles Corbin paces Winthrop on the glass pulling down almost seven rebounds a game.
