VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS PRESBYTERIAN ON THE ROAD

BOX SCORE

CLINTON, S.C. –
Behind a .306 hitting percentage and a balanced scoring attack, Radford swept (25-21, 25-22, 25-12) Presbyterian on the road, Friday evening in Big South Volleyball action from the Templeton Center.

Senior Carly Fleming (Manassas, Va./Osbourn Park) led the Highlanders (11-12, 5-3 Big South) with a match-best nine kills, .643 attack percentage and six total blocks.

Junior Emily Hayes (Bartlett, Ill./Bartlett) and sophomore Jesse Miedema (Huron, Ohio/Huron) each chipped in with seven kills. Miedema hit .463 and matched Fleming with six blocks, while Hayes found the floor 50 percent of the time.

Allison Brown and Carolina Cann paced the Blue Hose (8-15, 3-5) with eight kills apiece.

Hitting .379, Radford used an early 6-0 spurt to take a five-point lead and not look back for a 25-21 game-one win. Fleming and Hayes posted four and three kills respectively as the Highlanders registered 21 of their 25 points to grab the early advantage.

Radford closed out game two with a 5-1 run to claim a 25-22 triumph. Trailing 21-20, a pair of PC miscues gave the Highlanders the lead 22-21. A block by Miedema and Fleming, sandwiched around kills from Emily Carlin (Downington, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) and Miedema closed out game two.

A match-high .450 attack percentage and a 10-2 surge put the game and match away as Radford cruised to a 25-12 game-three win.

Senior Leigh Myers (Baton Rouge, La./The Dunham School) and freshman Christine Beckham (Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge) led the offense with 16 and 13 assists, respectively. Freshman Rachel Brummitt (Plano, Texas/Plano West) and Carlin each recorded 10 digs, respectively.

The Highlanders recorded nine total blocks and held Presbyterian to a .125 attack percentage.

Radford, which currently sits in third place, closes out its South Carolina Big South swing tomorrow with a 2 p.m. matchup against second-place Winthrop.
