RADFORD, Va. Radford women's basketball continues their four-game homestand to open 2011-12 with a 5 p.m. contest against Winston-Salem State on Wednesday at the Dedmon Center.

Radford is looking to become the first team since 1985-86 to win back-to-back games to open the season.

LAST TIME OUT
The Highlanders are coming off a 100-42 win over Eastern Mennonite in their season opener on Saturday.  Four players reached double figures, led by a game-high 17 points from Ashley Buckhannon (Wytheville, Va./George Wythe), who went 7-of-10 from the field and 3-of-5 from beyond the arc.

Preseason all-conference Da'Naria Erwin Spencer (Charlotte, N.C./East Mecklenburg) filled up the stat sheet, as she drained 15 points on 7-of-13 shooting, had 8 assists and recorded 5 steals in 26 minutes of action.

The six newcomers combined for 42 points and 22 rebounds in their Highlander debuts, led by 15 points and 8 boards by JUCO All-America transfer Tiana Cannon (Atlantic City, N.J./Coffeyville CC).

A LOOK AT THE LADY RAMS
♦ Winston-Salem State fell to UNC Asheville 83-74 but had three players in double figures, including 24 off the bench from Taylar Wells.  Courtney Medley and Jasmine Newkirk also scored 14 and 17, respectively.  Despite the loss, the Lady Rams out-rebounded the Bulldogs 46-44.

NOTES
Home Sweet Home... The Highlanders begin the 2011-12 campaign with four straight at home, the longest stretch in program history.  The 1985-86 squad began with three consecutive home contests.

Milestone Tracker... Erwin Spencer is 362 points shy of 1,000 for her career.  If surpassed this year, she will become the 19th 1,000-point scorer in school history and only the fourth to achieve the mark in her junior season, following in the footsteps of Stephanie Howard, Patrinda Toney and Shannan Wilkey, the top three scorers in RU history.  With 527 points, Erwin Spencer would break into the all-time Top-10 scorers at RU.

The Century Mark... Radford hit the 100-point plateau for the first time in five years by netting exactly 100 against Eastern Mennonite in the season-opener.  It was the 14th 100-point game in program history.

Forcing the Issue... Radford forced 31 turnovers against Eastern Mennonite, the most since making Southern Virginia turn it over 35 times on Dec. 9, 2010.  The Highlanders turned those miscues into 42 points on Saturday.
