UNCASVILLE, Conn. -- Radford will continue its appearance in the 2011 Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off this weekend at The Mohegan Sun.
The Highlanders will take on Long Island Saturday at 8 p.m. before playing the winner / loser of Vermont / Marist on Sunday evening.
Radford enters the annual event 3-1 on the young season following a 78-49 win over Central Penn College Wednesday.
Sophomore
Jareal Smith (Savannah, Ga. / Johnson) continues to pace the Highlanders in scoring, averaging 12.8 points per contest.
Johnathan Edwards (Queens, N.Y. / Tyler JUCO), who is coming off a career-high 14 boards, leads Radford on the glass averaging 7.8 rebounds.
On Tuesday,
R.J. Price (Mechanicsville, Va / Atlee) was named the Big South Freshman of the Week.
The Highlanders have never played Long Island, Marist or Vermont on the hardwood.
As a team, Radford is holding opponents to just 36.8 percent from the floor and 53.8 points per contest.
A year ago, the Highlanders didn't win their third game of the season until Dec. 29.
Radford will conclude its stretch of seven games in 13 days at nationally-ranked Kentucky Wednesday evening.
