RADFORD, Va. The Radford women's basketball team is set to host USC Upstate Saturday, Nov. 19 at 3 p.m. at the Dedmon Center.

The 2011-12 squad is looking to become the first Radford team to open the season 3-0 since 1985-86 and the eighth team overall to begin the season with that mark.

HIGHLANDER TIDBITS
♦ This squad became the first Highlander team since the 1985-86 campaign to win back-to-back games to open the season.
♦ Junior Ashley Buckhannon (Wytheville, Va./George Wythe) continues her hot start, as she scored a game and career-high 25 points against Winston-Salem State to go along with a career-best 6 steals.
Da'Naria Erwin Spencer (Charlotte, N.C./East Mecklenburg) is contributing 16.5 points a game.  At this pace, she would hit 1,000 points in her career by the Coastal Carolina matchup on Feb. 11.
♦ Through two games, Tiana Cannon (Atlantic City, N.J./Coffeyville CC) is nearly averaging a double-double with 12 points and 9 rebounds per contest.  She recorded her first double-digit rebound game with 10 against Winston-Salem State on Wednesday.
♦ Radford held its opponent under 50 points for the second straight game and pushed its record to 10-1 under head coach Tajama Abraham Ngongba when that occurs.

A LOOK AT THE SPARTANS
♦ USC Upstate enters the third all-time meeting against Radford with a 0-3 overall record, falling to nationally-ranked North Carolina and most recently Vanderbilt.  Tee'Ara Copney leads the club in scoring at 13.3 per contest (8-of-22 from three-point range) while Hannah Ohl (7.7) and Kim Roach (7.3) contribute just over 7 points per contest.  Lauren Roberts controls the glass at 5.0 boards a game.

NOTES
Milestone Tracker... Erwin Spencer is 344 points shy of 1,000 for her career.  If surpassed this year, she will become the 19th 1,000-point scorer in school history and only the fourth to achieve the mark in her junior season, following in the footsteps of Stephanie Howard, Patrinda Toney and Shannan Wilkey, the top three scorers in RU history.  With 509 points, Erwin Spencer would break into the all-time Top-10 scorers at RU.

Lead the Break... Radford has an overwhelming edge in fast break points, 44-4, through two contests.

Forcing the Issue... Radford has forced 60 turnovers in two games leading to 77 points.  Thus far, the Highlanders hold a 77-11 advantage in that category.

Swipe It... Last season, Radford led the league and was ranked 12th in the NCAA in steals per game (12.3).  2011-12 has started off no different, as the Highlanders have had 43 steals (21.5) in two games.
