LEXINGTON, Ky. – Radford fell at No. 2 Kentucky, 88-40, in non-conference men's basketball action Wednesday evening at Rupp Arena.
Terrance Jones led five Wildcats in double figures with 17 points. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist added 15 points and nine rebounds, Marquis Teague had 13, while Anthony Davis and Doron Lamb added 12 and 10, respectively.
Senior
Johnathan Edwards (Queens, N.Y. / Tyler JUCO) paced the Highlanders with 10 points and eight rebounds, while going 5-of-10 from the field.
Kentucky (5-0), which held the Highlanders scoreless for the first 8:45 of the contest, raced out to a 22-2 advantage before going into the half leading, 45-14.
The Wildcats, who won their 35
th straight home contest, finished 50 percent from the floor and converted 21 of their 24 free throws.
The setback concludes a season-opening stretch of seven games in 13 days for the Highlanders.
After this evening, Radford (3-4), Duke and San Diego State will be the only teams at the Division I level to have already played seven games.
The Highlanders shot just 26.2 percent and despite a number of open looks made just two of their 25 attempts from long range.
Radford will enjoy an eight-day break before opening Big South play December 1 at Charleston Southern.
