FARMVILLE, Va. After a week off, Radford women's basketball will head to Longwood for a 2 p.m. tip Saturday afternoon at Willett Hall.

The Highlanders are off to their best start since the 1993-94 season, when that squad also went 4-1 en route to an 18-12 season.  It marks the fifth 4-1 start in program history.

THE OPENING TIP
♦ Radford is looking to win its first road game in the month of December since 2007 when it defeated American University, 58-50 on Dec. 22.  The Highlanders are 34-87 all-time in December road contests.
♦ Radford has out-rebounded every opponent this year.  Under head coach Tajama Abraham Ngongba, the Highlanders are 20-9 when controlling the glass.
Ashley Buckhannon (Wytheville, Va./George Wythe) is coming off a game-high 19-point performance against George Washington.  She went 11-of-12 from the stripe and 15 of her 19 points came in the second half.  She has hit double figures in four of the five games this year.
Da'Naria Erwin Spencer (Charlotte, N.C./East Mecklenburg) is leading the Highlanders in scoring at just over 20 per contest.  At this pace, she would hit 1,000 points in her career by the High Point matchup on Feb. 4.  Buckhannon is just behind Erwin Spencer at 16.4 ppg.
Victoria Hamilton (St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands/Antilles School) is chipping in with 8.0 points and 6.0 rebounds a game.
Sarah Tabb (Chesapeake, Va./StoneBridge School) is coming off a career-high 9-rebound game against George Washington, increasing her average to 5.0.

SCOUTING THE LANCERS
♦ Brittanni Billups leads the Lancers in scoring at 9.9 per game, while Chelsea Coward (8.9) and Mina Jovanovic (8.4) are also eyeing double figures.  Billups does most of the work on the glass, as she averages 8.0 per contest.
♦ Longwood (1-6) has faced quality opponents thus far, including No. 11 Georgetown to open the season and No. 9 Miami last week.  Longwood's lone win came against Cornell 68-61 on Nov. 13.  Collectively, the seven teams Longwood has played are currently 29-13 overall.

NOTES
Streaking... Erwin Spencer has scored in double figures in 10 straight contests (including 13 of last 15 games) and has hit 13 consecutive attempts from the free throw line.

Forcing the Issue... Radford has forced 115 turnovers in five games leading to 127 points.  Thus far, the Highlanders hold a 127-63 advantage and haven't lost a turnover battle this season.

Swipe It... Last season, Radford led the league and was ranked 12th in the NCAA in steals per game (12.3).  2011-12 has started off no different, as the Highlanders have had 68 steals (13.6) in five games - 20th in the country.
