WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Sarah Tabb (Chesapeake, Va./StoneBridge School) set a career-high for the second straight game, but Radford dropped a 90-67 decision to Wake Forest in women's basketball action at Lawrence Joel Memorial Coliseum Wednesday afternoon.
Tabb had another near-perfect shooting day, going 5-of-6 from the field and 4-of-4 from the charity stripe. She also added seven rebounds.
Da'Naria Erwin Spencer (Charlotte, N.C./East Mecklenburg) led the Highlanders with 16 points, while
Victoria Hamilton (St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands/Antilles School) pulled down a game and season-high 10 boards.
Four Demon Deacons hit double figures with Sandra Garcia and Lindsy Wright leading the way with a game-high 18 points each. Lakevia Boykin and Chelsea Douglas contributed 16 and 14 points, respectively.
Wake Forest lived at the line in the second frame, hitting 17 of its 19 attempts and went 27-of-35 for the game. From the floor, the Demon Deacons hit 50 percent in the second half and had a 44 percent clip overall.
Wake Forest dialed up its pressure in the second half. After Radford converted 46 percent in the first half, the Demon Deacons held the Highlanders to just 16 percent in the final period.
Courtesy of five straight Hamilton points in the final 3:10 of the first half, Radford held the momentum heading for the break, but a last-second trifecta by Garcia pushed the Wake Forest advantage to 40-28.
The Highlanders remain on the road and will take on Wofford in the SoCon/Big South Challenge Saturday, Dec. 10. Game time is set for 2 p.m. in Asheville, N.C.
