ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville shot 58.6 percent and defeated Radford 81-58 in the final regular season contest at the Justice Center Saturday afternoon.
John Williams paced three Bulldogs in double figures with 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting. Fellow senior Eric Stubbs had 12 and Chris Stephenson recorded 10.
The Highlanders conclude the 2010-11 season 5-24 overall and 2-16 in the Big South, while UNCA enters next week's conference tournament as the No. 3 seed 16-13 and 11-7.
Playing in his final collegiate contest,
Jeremy Robinson (Baltimore, Md. / Tallahassee C.C.) led Radford with a career-high 15 points, while
Lukas Winegarner (Sodertalje, Sweden) added a season-high 14 to go along with 10 rebounds for his first career double-double.
Along with their blistering shooting percentage, the Bulldogs held Radford to just 29.7 percent.
UNC Asheville started 11-of-17 from the floor and used an 18-0 run to open up a 24-7 lead, which it would stretch to 20 before going to the half up, 41-22.
Williams, who made all five of his attempts in the first 20 minutes of action, led all players at the break with 12 points.
Asheville scored the first nine points of the second half and extended the margin to as many as 34 (77-43) on a Stubbs' jumper with 4:30 remaining.
In addition to outscoring the Highlanders 54-26 in the paint, UNC Asheville finished with 25 assists on 34 field goals.
Both teams finished with 10 steals.
