Pregame Notes
-- Radford will continue its challenging end-of-the-year slate with a 7 p.m. contest at in-state / league-rival Liberty Thursday evening.

-- The Highlanders enter the 58th all-time meeting 5-18 overall and 2-11 in the Big South following a 72-70 setback at High Point Saturday.

-- Despite the loss, Blake Smith (Charlotte, N.C./United Faith Christian Academy) led four Radford players in double figures with a season / game-high 19 points on 7-of-15 shooting, including four 3-pointers. Ranked 12th in the nation in steals per game (2.71), the sophomore guard also recorded five rebounds and five steals in the contest.

-- In addition to Smith's best performance of the season, Jareal Smith (Savannah, Ga./Johnson) backed a season-high 25 points against Winthrop with 15 more points at High Point en route to earning Big South Freshman of the Week honors. For the week, Jareal averaged 20 points, 7 rebounds and 2.5 assists.

-- Gorkem Sonmez (Istanbul, Turkey) and Martins Abele (Saldus, Latvia) also contributed 10 points each for the Highlanders in their last outing.

-- Sonmez (9.1) and Blake Smith (9.0) lead RU in scoring, while Johnathan Edwards (Queens, N.Y./Tyler Junior College) (5.4) and Tolga Cerrah (Ankara, Turkey) (5.1) pace the team in rebounding.

-- Under fourth-year head coach Brad Greenberg, Radford is 20-6 in February contests.

-- Radford will continue its stretch of six out of seven on the road to conclude the regular season with a 1 p.m. tip at VMI Saturday.

Scouting the Flames
-- Winners of 10 of its last 12, Liberty enters 17-8 overall and 11-2 in the conference following a 70-69 come-from-behind win at Charleston Southern over the weekend.

-- Evan Gordon continues to pace four Flames in double figures averaging 15 points per game, while shooting just under 80 percent at the line.

-- John Brown, who leads the league in rebounding (10.6), and David Minaya are contributing better than 11 points per outing, while Jesse Sanders is averaging 10.6 points to go along with 6.1 rebounds (12th) and 6.4 assists (1st), which rank among conference leaders.

-- As a team, Liberty ranks near or at the top of the Big South in scoring defense (2nd/64.8), free-throw percentage (T-3rd/.705), field-goal percentage defense (3rd/.418), 3-point field-goal percentage defense (1st/.296), rebounding offense (2nd/39.7), rebounding defense (1st/32.9) and rebounding margin (2nd/+6.8).

-- Liberty is 33-11 at the Vines Center the last three seasons with two of the losses coming to the Highlanders.

-- A win over Radford would guarantee the Flames no worse than the No. 2 seed in next month's Big South Men's Basketball Tournament.
