VOLLEYBALL ANNOUNCES 2011 FALL SCHEDULE

RADFORD, Va. – In addition to hosting the third annual Radford University Tournament, the Highlanders' 2011 volleyball schedule will feature three weekend tournaments and a 14-match Big South slate as announced by fourth-year head coach Marci Jenkins.

After opening their campaign at the Hofstra Tournament (Aug. 26-27), the Highlanders will host the Radford University Tournament the following weekend (Sept. 2-3).

This year's RU Tournament will include first-time participants, University of Missouri at Kansas City, Chicago State and USC Upstate.

A week after hosting their annual event at the Dedmon Center, the Highlanders will join host Miami (Ohio) and Florida Gulf Coast in Oxford, Ohio, for the Miami (Ohio) Tournament Sept. 9-10.

On Sept. 16-17, Radford will conclude its tournament slate with an appearance at the UNC Greensboro Tournament with the likes of Memphis and Howard.

"We have a solid preseason schedule field in the fall, that should get us ready for conference play," commented Jenkins. “We have a conference schedule that is different from the previous years as we will not play every conference opponent twice and with the addition of Campbell it makes every conference match extremely important.”

After hosting Liberty on Sept. 23 in their Big South season opener, the Highlanders will compete in 13 Big South contests including five at the Dedmon Center.

Radford will conclude its Big South slate with entertaining first-year league opponent, Campbell for “Senior Night” on Nov. 5.

In non-conference action, the Highlanders will travel to Elon, North Carolina A&T and North Carolina Central, while welcoming James Madison to the Dedmon Center on Oct. 11.

Charleston Southern will host the 2011 Big South Volleyball Tournament on Nov. 17-19 in Charleston, S.C., with the champion earning the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
