WADE LEADS RADFORD MEN’S GOLF IN FIRST DAY OF OPENING EVENT

DAY ONE RESULTS

RADFORD, Va. –
Following the first 36 holes of the season-opening Spring Hill Suites Intercollegiate on Monday, the Radford men's golf team currently sits tied for seventh directed by top-15 performances by Michael Wade (Floyd, Va./Floyd) and Weston Eklund (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle).

The Highlanders had a solid day on the links at the Country Club of South Carolina, wrapping up at six-over 582, just 11 strokes back of the lead.  The event is being played on a par-72, 7,062-yard layout.

After a two-over 74 in the first round, Wade turned around in the second round to card a three-under 69 to solidify his tie for 13th place.

Eklund also had a consistent day at even-par with rounds of 71 and 73, respectively, and is tied for 15th out of 80 competitors.

After recording one round in the 60's a year ago, senior Paul Woodson (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) came out in the opening round to fire a 68 (-4).  He currently sits at five-over 149.

Final round action wraps up Tuesday morning.
