DAY ONE RESULTS
RADFORD, Va. – Following the first 36 holes of the season-opening Spring Hill Suites Intercollegiate on Monday, the Radford men's golf team currently sits tied for seventh directed by top-15 performances by
Michael Wade (Floyd, Va./Floyd) and
Weston Eklund (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle).
The Highlanders had a solid day on the links at the Country Club of South Carolina, wrapping up at six-over 582, just 11 strokes back of the lead. The event is being played on a par-72, 7,062-yard layout.
After a two-over 74 in the first round, Wade turned around in the second round to card a three-under 69 to solidify his tie for 13th place.
Eklund also had a consistent day at even-par with rounds of 71 and 73, respectively, and is tied for 15th out of 80 competitors.
After recording one round in the 60's a year ago, senior
Paul Woodson (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) came out in the opening round to fire a 68 (-4). He currently sits at five-over 149.
Final round action wraps up Tuesday morning.
