FINAL RESULTS

FLORENCE, S.C. – Led by career-low tournaments from redshirt junior Weston Eklund (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) and senior Michael Wade (Floyd, Va./Floyd), Radford men's golf wrapped up the season-opening Spring Hill Suites Intercollegiate in seventh place Tuesday afternoon.  

Eklund shot a career-best six-under 66 in the final round and also carded a career-low 210 (-6) to finish fourth.  For Eklund, it stood as the second highest finish of his career.  His six-under was just two shots off the individual medalist Matthew Broome of Furman.

Wade also made a big leap up the leaderboard, propelling seven positions after his two-under 70 final-round score.  In addition to Eklund's career day, Wade also had a career-low, 54-hole total at 213 (-3), shaving two strokes off his previous best.

“I was really pleased with our performance, especially posting one of the lowest rounds of the day.  It was another great tournament from Weston and Mike,” commented head coach Mike Grant.

As a team, Radford (290-292-286=868) finished seventh of 15 teams and were only eight strokes back of runner-up honors.
