RADFORD, Va. In its first game of the new year, Radford women's basketball will welcome Campbell to the Dedmon Center for a 3 p.m. contest on Saturday.

THE SERIES
Radford holds control of the all-time series, 17-7.  The two teams haven't clashed on the hardwood in over eight years, dating back to New Year's Eve in 2003.  In Big South contests, Radford is 15-7 against the Lady Camels and hold an 11-2 overall mark at home in the series.

THE OPENING TIP
♦ Under head coach Tajama Abraham Ngongba, Radford has compiled an 11-1 mark at home in January.  Overall in the month, Radford is 185-93.
Da'Naria Erwin Spencer and Ashley Buckhannon, the third and seventh leading scorers in the Big South, pace the Highlanders at 16.3 and 15.2 points per contest, respectively.  Erwin Spencer has posted double figures in 19 of her last 22 games and has four outings of 20 or more points this season.  Each have reached the 20-point plateau in back-to-back contests this year, standing as two of six players in the Big South to accomplish that feat.
♦ The frontcourt duo of
Victoria Hamilton and Sarah Tabb are averaging 7.6 and 5.8 rebounds per game, respectively.
♦ Buckhannon and freshman
Ayana Avery have combined for 138 of Radford's 175 three-point attempts (.789).  Furthermore, the duo has 45 of the Highlanders' 53 (.849) makes from long range.  Avery ranks fourth in the Big South with a 35 percent clip.
♦ Radford ranks first in the Big South in free-throw shooting at 74 percent (149-201).

LAST TIME OUT
♦ Radford forced 39 Liberty turnovers, one shy of a Dedmon Center record, but a 16-0 run early in the second half by the Lady Flames was too much as Radford's comeback bid fell short, 76-68, in the conference opener.  Buckhannon matched a career-high 25 points, 18 of which came in the first stanza.  Erwin Spencer scored all 12 of her points in the second half and led a furious comeback with her defense and breakaway layups.

SCOUTING THE FIGHTING CAMELS
♦ Winners of three straight, Campbell (9-4, 2-0 Big South) is currently atop the league standings.  The Lady Camels have begun the conference season with wins over Gardner-Webb and Asheville.
♦ 69 percent of Campbell's baskets have come on an assisted play.
♦ Campbell is led in scoring by Tonisha Baker and Jazmine Cooper, who average 13.2 and 10.4 points per game, respectively.
♦ Rebounding has been key for the Lady Camels, as six players pull down at least 4 rebounds a game.  Overall, Campbell holds a 6.1 edge over the opposition on the glass.  Baker leads the way with 6.9 boards per game, while Cooper collects 5.7.
