RUTV: WOMEN’S BASKETBALL DEFEATS CAMPBELL, 80-70, FOR FIRST LEAGUE WIN

RADFORD, Va. Da'Naria Erwin Spencer had a game-high 21 points and Jordynn Gaymon hit career highs in points and rebounds as Radford defeated Campbell, 80-70, Saturday afternoon in women's basketball action.
 
Erwin Spencer went 5-of-6 from the line and had eight field goals en route to her 21 points.  In addition, the junior guard dished out 6 assists.  Gaymon came off the bench to record a career-high 8 points, collected a personal-best 12 rebounds and also had 3 of Radford's 4 blocks.  Katherine Brockett also came off the bench and was the other Highlander in double figures with 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting.
 
Tonisha Baker led Campbell (9-5, 2-1 Big South) with 18 points, 14 coming in the second stanza.  Katelyn Bass tallied a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. 
 
Radford (7-6, 1-1 Big South) collected 50 rebounds, 23 on the offensive end that led to 22 second-chance points.  Ayana Avery chipped in with a career-high 7 rebounds.  Bench scoring was the difference, as Radford held a 35-20 edge.    
 
Campbell pulled to within one on two occasions in the second half.  Following a fastbreak layup by Baker with 4:12 remaining to make the score 67-66, Radford responded with a 6-0 spurt and outscored the Lady Camels 13-4 to end the game.
 
Radford led by as many as seven in the first half and went into the break up, 41-36.
 
Radford ends its four-game home stand with a 7 p.m. contest against High Point on Monday.
