RADFORD, Va. –
With back-to-back sweeps added to its resume, the Radford volleyball team hits the “Beach Swing” of its schedule, squaring off against Coastal Carolina, Friday, and Charleston Southern, Saturday, in the Palmetto State.

SCOUTING THE CHANTICLEERS
♦  The 40th meeting all-time between Coastal Carolina and Radford will take place Friday, with the Chants leading the series, 22-17.

♦  The Chanticleers are led by Gabriella Horvath with 2.70 kills per set and Meghan Laffin with 2.03 kills per set. Lauren Alejo has contributed 508 assists thus far, while Jamie DiMaggio has racked up a team-best 175 digs. Kindra Bailey blocks over one attack per set.

SCOUTING THE BUCCANEERS
♦  Saturday's encounter will mark the 44th meeting all-time between Charleston Southern and the Highlanders, with RU leading 31-12.

♦  Kayla Klinger puts down 2.67 kills per game and Sydney Tracy is credited with 2.01 kills per set to lead the Buccaneers. Kirsten Struksnes has assisted on 565 attacks for the season, while Ashley Higgenbothem averages 3.56 digs per set to lead CSU defensively.

LAST TIME OUT
♦  Three days removed from its seventh sweep of the season, the Radford volleyball team notched its eighth 3-0 affair at North Carolina A&T, Tuesday night from Moore Gymnasium. Set scores were 25-23, 25-19 and 25-22.

Emma Deininger hit for a career-high 64.3 percent with 10 kills on 14 attack attempts. Emily Carlin finished one kill shy of a double-double (nine kills and 12 digs). Christine Beckham dished out a team-high 21 assists, while Jena Braden aided 19 attacks.

Leading the defensive efforts for the Highlanders (12-10) was reigning Big South Defensive Player of the Week Katelyn Meeks, who was credited with a team-best 14 digs. Yacine Meyer contributed 10 digs in the three-set victory.

ON DECK
♦  The Highlanders return to the Dedmon Center for a three-match homestand following their outing with Charleston Southern. RU will host Winthrop (7:00 p.m.), Friday, before facing off against Presbyterian (4:00 p.m.), Saturday, as part of DIG PINK.

YA DIG?
♦  Katelyn Meeks certainly knows how to as she was selected Big South Defensive Player of the Week, Monday. The honor was the senior's fourth accolade from the league office in her stellar career.

♦  As for her ascent to the top of the career digs chart, Meeks passed Rachel Newton for second place at Radford in that category with 1,306 at Gardner-Webb. Meeks' career total sits at 1,360, 18 from first place, which is occupied by Lauren Clary with 1,378 digs.

♦  Meeks has also made a name for herself behind the service line, racking up 98 aces during her career. The 98 aces rank fourth in Radford volleyball history.

WELCOME TO THE BLOCK PARTY
♦  Emma Deininger has picked up right where she left off in her freshman campaign, climbing up the career record charts for blocks. The sophomore middle blocker is currently fifth in program history with 157 block assists. Deininger ranks fifth in total blocks with 175 thus far in her career.

♦  Jesse Miedema has climbed into the Top-10 for block assists and total blocks in her junior year. The Huron, Ohio native is tied for ninth in block assists (135) and 10th in total blocks (147).

LET ME HELP YOU WITH THAT
♦  Sophomores Christine Beckham and Jena Braden will no doubt leave Radford as two of the program's greatest setters as both rank in the Top-6 in assists for a career. Beckham has accumulated 938 in her two years, while classmate Braden is credited with 731.
