VOLLEYBALL PREPARES FOR PIVOTAL WEEKEND IN NORTH CAROLINA

RADFORD, Va. –
Battling for one of the final spots in the Big South Volleyball Tournament, Radford heads to North Carolina for two pivotal league matchups - Campbell (Nov. 2) and High Point (Nov. 3).
 
SCOUTING THE FIGHTING CAMELS
♦  The 18th meeting all-time between Campbell and Radford will take place Friday, with the Highlanders leading the series, 15-2. CU is looking for its first win in conference play.
 
♦  Campbell is led by Jessica Groen's 2.11 kills per set. Lindsey Coats ropes 2.05 kills per set, while Heather Wilson has assisted on 741 attacks this season. Leading the defensive efforts for the Camels are Mallorie Cubillos (3.93 digs per set) and Kelsey Marek (0.98 blocks per set).
 
SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
♦  Saturday's encounter will mark the 36th meeting all-time between High Point and the Highlanders, with the Highlanders leading 22-13. HPU is on a torrid streak having won six out of its last eight matches.
 
♦  The Panthers are led by Courtney Johnk's 3.40 kills per set and Chelsea Davis' 2.91 kills per set. Maddie Simpson has dished out a team-best 896 assists on the year, while Johnk has put away 46 aces. Anchoring the backline is  Annemarie Chin with 3.55 digs per set. Jamie McDonald rejects 1.06 attacks per set.
 
LAST TIME OUT
♦  Despite having four players putting down double-digit kills, the Radford volleyball team fell in five sets (27-25, 19-25, 16-25, 25-20, 8-15) to Liberty Friday night inside the Dedmon Center.
 
Rachel Wiechecki matched her season high of 16 kills to go along with 14 digs to account for her ninth double-double of the season. Emily Carlin totaled 15 kills, while Rachel Fertitta knocked down a career-high 14 by attacking at 40 percent. Cheyanne James also made it into double figures with 13 kills.
 
Assisting on the majority of the attacks was Jena Braden, who put up a career-high 58 assists. Anchoring the Highlanders' backline was Katelyn Meeks, who accounted for a match-high 24 digs. Yacine Meyer added 10 digs for Radford (13-14, 3-7).
 
ON DECK
♦  The Highlanders conclude their regular season inside the Dedmon Center next weekend, hosting Gardner-Webb (Nov. 9) and UNC Asheville (Nov. 10 - Senior Day).
 
YA DIG?
♦  Katelyn Meeks certainly knows how to as she picked up her fourth Big South Defensive Player of the Week accolade from the league office earlier this season.
 
♦  In addition to her Big South honor, Meeks took over the top spot in career digs at Radford during the fourth set of the match at Coastal Carolina. The Richmond, Va. native surpassed Lauren Clary (1,378) and now has 1,453 digs in her career.
 
♦  Meeks has also made a name for herself behind the service line, racking up 106 aces during her career. The 102 aces rank third in Radford volleyball history.
