RADFORD'S BID TO KNOCK OFF EKU FALLS SHY

BOX SCORE RICHMOND, Ky. - Radford gave undefeated Eastern Kentucky a big scare Sunday in the finale of the EKU / Comfort Suites Invitational, but the Colonels prevailed 83-75. Radford led by as many as 16 in the first half and for a good part of the second half, however, a Mike DiNunno three-pointer gave EKU the lead for good, 53-52 with 11:20 to play.

The Highlanders stormed out to a 16-point lead in the first half led by the career-high 14 points off the bench by Ya Ya Anderson. Javonte Green added 12 points and was 6-7 from the field, including two impressive dunks. Anderson was 4-6 from the field with a pair of three-point baskets. The Highlanders led 43-37 at the break.

While Anderson did not add to his 14-point total in the second half, Green's outstanding play continued as the sophomore finished with a career-high 28 points and added nine rebounds and four steals. Rashun Davis also tallied a career-high with 12 points.

Eastern Kentucky made its run using 11 three-point baskets to regain control of the game. The Colonels forced Radford into 20 turnovers for the game.

"When we are the more aggressive team, we can be pretty good," RU head coach Mike Jones said. "I am proud of my guys. Our confidence level is building."

The Highlanders had their best offensive effort of the season shooting 52 percent from the floor and 53 percent from behind the three-point arc. Anderson, Davis, and Kyle Noreen each knocked down two treys.

Radford's leading scorer, R.J. Price had an off night making just one of his eight field goal attempts and finishing with just five points. Noreen finished with eight. Radford held the advantage in points in the paint (30-28), fast break points (6-0), and bench scoring (29-27). The difference in the game, however, came in points off turnovers. EKU held a 23-16 edge in that category.

The Highlanders, now 2-3 on the season, return home prior to Thanksgiving for a Wednesday matinee vs. Brevard at the Dedmon Center. Tip is set for 2:00 p.m.
