RU HEADS TO THE CITADEL FOR SATURDAY SHOWDOWN

RADFORD, Va. - Fresh off its blowout victory over Brevard on Wednesday, the Radford men's basketball team faces a stiff road test Saturday at The Citadel. The Bulldogs are 3-1 on the season and have already claimed one Big South victim in VMI. Tip is set for 2:00 p.m. from McAlister Field House in Charleston, S.C.

Highlander fans can listen live to all the action on the RU Sports Radio Network, which is carried by WRVU 89.9 FM, WBLB 1340 AM, and the internet at www.radfordathletics.com. The broadcast begins with the pregame at 1:30 p.m.

THE SERIES
♦ Radford and The Citadel have never met in men's basketball prior to Saturday's contest.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS                                                                                                             
♦ The Citadel is 3-1 on the season after a pair of wins over lower division competition in Union (Ky.) and Montreat, but scored a nice victory over VMI in its last game. The lone loss for the Bulldogs came to the Air Force Academy.
♦ Mike Groselle leads the team at 16.8 points and 9.8 rebounds per game. He is shooting 70.3 percent from the field and 83.3 percent from the free throw line.
♦ Matt Van Scyoc averages 12.8 points and is hitting 56.3 percent from the floor overall and 47.4 percent from behind the three-point arc.
♦ The Bulldogs are shooting 52.6 from the field and holding opponents to 39.1 percent from the field.
♦ The Citadel has played all of its games at home this season.
♦ The Bulldogs finished 6-24 last season.

Jalen Carethers set a career high with 12 points vs. Brevard.
Javonte Green set a career high with 28 points at Eastern Kentucky.

TIDBITS                                                                                                             
♦ Radford was well represented on the EKU/Comfort Suites Invitational all-tournament team. RU's Javonte Green was named first-team, and Ya Ya Anderson earned second-team honors for the five-team tournament hosted by Eastern Kentucky University.
Javonte Green has scored in double figures in each of the first six games of the season. He has scored in double figures in 23 of the last 25 games for the Highlanders.
♦ The RU bench has outscored its opponents' bench in five straight games.

LAST TIME OUT                                                                                                             
♦ Radford scored the first 17 points of the game, and all 14 players on the roster saw plenty of minutes as the Highlanders defeated Brevard, 81-53.
♦ The Highlanders made six of their first nine shots, including two three-point baskets by R.J. Price, who finished with a career-high six treys en route to a game-high 20 points.
Jalen Carethers set career highs with 12 points and a game-high seven rebounds.
Taj Owens scored a career-high eight points with three assists.
♦ RU's pressure defense led to 25 Brevard turnovers and a 33-8 advantage in points off those miscues and a 21-4 edge in fast break points.
♦ Radford turned the ball over just eight times.
♦ The Highlanders also grabbed 20 offensive rebounds that led to a 21-9 advantage in second chance points. RU outrebounded the visitors 42-27 overall.
