HIGHLANDERS LOOK TO KEEP MOMENTUM VS. HAMPTON

RADFORD, Va. - The Radford men's basketball team hosts Hampton on Wednesday looking for its third straight victory overall and to remain unbeaten at home in the 2012-13 campaign. The Highlanders have won two straight and pushed their record over .500 for the season, and RU has won both home contests this season. Tip is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Dedmon Center.

THE SERIES
♦ Hampton leads the all-time series 3-2. The teams last played on Dec. 6, 2005 with the Pirates winning in Hampton, 73-69. The series began in the final game of the 1981-82 season with Hampton scoring a 72-56 win at the Dedmon Center. The Pirates own a 2-1 advantage in games played at Radford. RU's only home victory in the series came on Nov. 26, 2000 in a 74-70 win.

SCOUTING THE PIRATES
♦ Hampton is 0-5 on the season, but four of those losses have come by 10 points or fewer, including a one-point defeat its last time out at UNC Wilmington, 61-60.
♦ The Pirates have yet to play a home game going 0-4 in road games and 0-1 at a neutral site so far this season.
♦ HU has a pair of players averaging in double figures - David Bruce (10.8 ppg) and Deron Powers (10.0 ppg). Bruce leads the team in rebounding at 8.0 per game.
♦ As a team, the Pirates are averaging 20.2 turnovers per game and have shot just .219 from behind the three-point arc.
♦ Hampton finished 12-21 last season and 1-13 on the road with the only road win coming at Florida A&M.

TIDBITS
♦ Radford is 24-9 all-time vs. the MEAC (Bethune-Cookman 2-0; Coppin State 1-0; Delaware State 1-0; Florida A&M 1-1; Hampton 2-3; Howard 1-2; Maryland-Eastern Shore 4-0; Morgan State 4-0; Norfolk State 2-2; North Carolina A&T 5-1; South Carolina State 1-0).
♦ The RU bench has outscored its opponents' bench in six straight games.
♦ Radford has won nine straight home overtime games dating back to the home-opener of the 2002-03 season vs. Howard.
♦ Radford has won five straight games decided in overtime.
Javonte Green leads the Big South in steals per game at 2.71.
♦ Radford has won the tip in all eight tries this season - opening tips vs. Wake Forest, Cincinnati Christian, Towson, Kennesaw State, Eastern Kentucky, Brevard, and The Citadel, and the overtime tip vs. Cincinnati Christian.

RADFORD'S LAST TIME OUT
♦ Radford built a 22-point lead in the first half and defeated The Citadel, 74-61, at McAlister Field House. The Highlanders had four players in double figures, led by Ya Ya Anderson's 13 points.
♦ Radford opened the game scoring the first five points and never relinquished the lead. The Highlanders stretched the lead to 40-18 capping a 20-4 run that proved to be the difference in the ball game.
♦ RU hit 9-10 free throws in the final minutes of the game, including six straight from R.J. Price and a pair from Javonte Green.
Blake Smith added 12 points, and R.J. Price had 11 along with 10 from Kyle Noreen.
♦ The Highlanders won on the road for just the second time in the last two seasons - another testament to the early growth shown by this team and this program. The Citadel earlier in the season knocked off a team predicted three places higher in the Big South North standings at the beginning of the season in VMI, so this was an important statement victory for RU.
