RADFORD, VA. - Radford won its third straight game and remained undefeated at home with a 73-64 victory over Hampton on Wednesday night at the Dedmon Center. Javonte Green enjoyed one of his most specatcular games in a Highlander uniform leading RU with 22 points, 10 rebounds, six steals, and two blocked shots. He was 9-10 from the field.

Radford spotted the Pirates the first five points of the game, and then answered with a 14-0 run and maintained that momentum throughout much of the first half. The Highlanders stretched the lead to as many as 18 at 39-21 with 3:15 remaining in the first half.

The Pirates, however, responded as well, scoring the final 12 points of the half to close to 39-33 at the intermission. After Hampton scored the first six points of the second half the RU lead had evaporated until the 16:54 mark when a pair of Rashun Davis freethrows gave Radford the lead for good.

"We showed a lot of resolve tonight," RU head coach Mike Jones said. "We could have panicked after we let them tie it, but we didn't. This is all a maturation process for us, and each game is a new experience."

After Davis gave RU the lead, R.J. Price nailed one of his five three-point baskets to give the Highlanders a five-point edge. Price's deep threat kept the Pirates at arm's length the remainder of the game. After HU pulled to within four with just under eight minutes to play, Price buried back-to-back treys that pushed the lead back into double digits. The game was never seriously threatened again.

Price finished with 17 points, and Ya Ya Anderson chipped in with 10 off the bench, but it was the play of Green that shined on this night.

Green already led the Big South Conference in steals coming into the game, and he built on those numbers with a career-high performance with six. His two blocks also tied a career high. He registered his second double-double of the season.

"He's not always going to be perfect, but tonight he was pretty good," Jones said of his budding sophomore star. "And he is always going to give you effort."

Ke'Ron Brown led all Hampton scorers with 16 off the bench. The Pirates also got 13 from Deron Powers and 12 from David Bruce.

Radford is off until Tuesday, December 4 when the Highlanders travel to Delaware. Tip is set for 7:00 p.m. against the Blue Hens.
