RADFORD IMPRESSIVE IN WIN OVER KNIGHTS

RADFORD, Va. - Radford (6-7) snapped a four-game skid in impressive fashion Saturday as the Highlanders returned from the Christmas holiday with a 95-68 home victory over Central Penn (9-8). Rashun Davis and Ya Ya Anderson each scored career highs with 16 and 15 points, respectively, to lead Radford.

RU led throughout the game as Blake Smith scored the game's first five points, and the Highlanders never looked back. Smith finished with season-highs in points with 13 and six rebounds. Javonte Green and Kyle Noreen also grabbed a team-high six rebounds for the Highlanders. Noreen also finished with a career-high six assists.

The Highlanders blistered their way to 61.3 percent shooting in the first half and held the Knights to just 23.5 percent by intermission. RU built a 49-26 advantage by the half and added to that to lead by as many as 36 with seven minutes to play.

Radford head coach Mike Jones said he was pleased with his team's effort and defensive intensity, especially coming off the holiday break. He mentioned specifically the team's positive response coming off the holiday break and the 26 assists posted by his team.

The Highlanders forced 21 turnovers and converted that defensive effort into a 27-2 edge in points off turnovers.

Each player on the 14-man roster saw significant minutes and all but Juwan Wells tallied in the scoring column. Matt Murphy scored the first six points of his Radford career and also grabbed four rebounds.

The game also featured the return of point guard R.J. Price, who had missed the Charlotte and West Virginia games with a sprained ankle. Price logged 14 minutes in his return and scored six points.


Devon Dorsey led the Knights with 23 points and 16 rebounds.  Montez Lacy also scored in double figures with 11.

Radford is next in action Wednesday, January 2 at North Carolina A&T. Tip is set for 7 p.m. in Greensboro, N.C.
