RADFORD, Va. –
The Radford women's basketball team returns to the court Saturday, Dec. 8 for a home clash with cross-state rival William & Mary looking to end a three-game slide. The Highlanders hope to ride the momentum established from the second half of their last contest with North Carolina where RU outscored the 21st-ranked team in the nation, 34-31.

MEET THE TRIBE

♦ Predicted to finish in a tie for ninth in the CAA, William & Mary has dropped some tight decisions. Of the Tribe's five losses this season, four were decided by seven points or less.
♦ Preseason All-CAA selection Emily Correal leads the Tribe at 16.6 points per game and 9.3 rebounds per outing. Janine Aldridge (13.2) and Taylor Hilton (11.0) join Correal in double-figure scoring to fuel the W&M offensive attack.
♦ Defensively, the Tribe has been stout this season, holding five of their opponents to under 40-percent shooting from the floor.
♦ In its last outing, William & Mary dropped a tightly contested battle at Navy, 69-64. Correal led the Tribe with a game-high 21 points.
♦ W&M enters Saturday's tilt averaging 66.7 points per contest, while holding its opponents to the same figure. The Green and Gold like to shoot from deep, knocking down 7.1 treys per game.

SERIES HISTORY

♦ Saturday's encounter marks the 19th meeting between the Highlanders and the Tribe. Radford leads the all-time series, 13-5, but dropped the last matchup, 70-40, in Williamsburg (Nov. 15, 2009).

WHAT'S NEXT

♦ RU continues its stay at home when Norfolk State visits the New River Valley, Thursday, Dec. 13 for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference clash with the Spartans.

LAST TIME OUT

♦ After making a run to cut its deficit to 11, Radford could not get any closer as No. 21 North Carolina prevailed, 64-44, in non-conference women's basketball action from Carmichael Arena Wednesday night.
♦ Freshman Diani Mason led the Highlanders' offensive attack with 10 points, while Ashley Buckhannon and Victoria Hamilton contributed six points apiece. Hamilton also hauled in a team-high five rebounds.
♦ In addition to shooting 42 percent (21-50), UNC held a decisive advantage on the glass (52-27).
♦ The Highlanders' defensive intensity frustrated the hosts for most of the night, culminating in 31 turnovers. However, the offensive side of the ball struggled (25.8 percent) against the much taller Tar Heels.

LAST MEETING WITH WILLIAM & MARY

♦  In the season opener of the 2009-10 campaign, Radford fell to the Tribe, 70-40, inside Kaplan Arena. Redshirt senior Kymesha Alston paced the Highlanders with a 16-point, 12-rebound effort.
♦  The hosts shot 50 percent for the game (32-of-64) and were led by Taysha Pye's game-high 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting. W&M darted out of the gates with an early 21-4 lead and never looked back.
♦  The Highlanders struggled to shoot the ball, hitting just 24.3 percent (17-of-70) from the floor and 15.4 percent (2-of-13) from 3-point land.
♦  The Tribe controlled the glass, out-rebounding the Highlanders, 56-35. Current senior Emily Correal pulled down a game-best 15 caroms. Katherine DeHenzel and Tiffany Benson chipped in with eight and seven rebounds respectively.
