RADFORD, Va. - The Radford men's basketball team saw its three-game home winning streak come to a halt Saturday as William & Mary left the Dedmon Center with a 60-55 victory.

The defensive effort by the Highlanders kept the Tribe 11 points under their average for the season, however the offense sputtered to just 35 percent shooting and more struggles from the free throw line (8-15).

"We executed our offense, but just couldn't convert that into points," RU head coach Mike Jones said. "Any time you hold a team that far below what they are used to scoring, it's a good defensive effort. But you aren't going to win many games shooting as poorly as we did and not being able to take advantage on the line."

It looked in the first half as though Ya Ya Anderson was going to single-handedly lead the Highlanders on the offensive end. The freshman hit all four of his attempts in the first half and all of them from behind the three-point arc for 12 points.

"We fought hard against a very good team tonight," Jones said of his team's effort.

W&M had the answer for Anderson in the second half holding him scoreless. Kion Brown and Javonte Green took over much of the scoring and rebounding in the second half for the Highlanders. Brown nearly notched his career double-double finishing with 13 points and nine rebounds. Green tallied 11 points and eight rebounds. Rashun Davis grabbed a career-high six rebounds,
but it was not enough for the homestanding Highlanders.

"I was happy with the contributions of our freshmen," Jones said. "Ya Ya, Kion, and Rashun played with a lot of energy."

Marcus Thornton led all scorers with 19 for the Tribe. Kyle Gaillard did achieve a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Tim Rusthoven also added 13 as all 60 of the Tribe's points came from the starting lineup.

The Highlanders are off for 11 days as the team will focus on final exams. RU is in action next at Charlotte on December 19 for a 7:30 p.m. tip.
