RADFORD, Va. --
Just hours after concluding the regular season, Radford learned it will travel up I-81 to take on seventh-seeded VMI in the opening round of the 2012 Big South Men's Basketball Tournament on Monday evening at Cameron Hall. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.

The winner of tonight's first-round match up will advance to face second-seeded Coastal Carolina on quarterfinal Wednesday at 12 p.m. in Asheville, N.C.

Coming off a 65-59 setback in its regular season finale over the weekend, Radford enters as the 10th seed with an overall record of 6-25.

The Highlanders are led by 2012 Big South all-freshman selections R.J. Price and Javonte Green. Price is averaging 11.0 points and 3.7 assists, while Green is contributing 10.4 points and a team-best 6.7 rebounds per game.

The league office also honored Tolga Cerrah Sunday as the red-shirt sophomore was named Scholar Athlete of the Year.

VMI won both meetings with the Highlanders earlier this season. The Keydets edged Radford, 80-76 (1/14/12) at Cameron Hall before holding off the Highlanders, 65-60 (1/26/12) at the Dedmon Center.

The Keydets, who are led by all-conference selection Stan Okoye (17.7 ppg / 7.1 rpg) and Keith Gabriel (18.1 ppg), enter 14-15 overall after suffering an 81-64 loss to Coastal Carolina on Saturday.

The two clubs have only met once in postseason play with the Highlanders defeating VMI, 108-94, in the 2009 Big South Championship at the Dedmon Center.
