MEN’S GOLF THIRD, EKLUND SEVENTH AT CHARLESTON SHOOTOUT


FINAL RESULTS

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Weston Eklund placed seventh overall amongst 89 total players and the Radford men's golf team wrapped up the 54-hole Charleston Shootout in third place Tuesday afternoon.
 
Eklund (T-7th) led all Radford golfers with an even-par 72 over the final 18 holes and finished two-under 214.  He was just five strokes out of third place. 
 
The four-player Radford team charted rounds of 285, 286 and 299 to total 870 (+6) on the scorecard.  The Highlanders trailed two nationally-ranked opponents in No. 25 Florida and No. 46 Augusta State and defeated 11 other teams, including four Big South foes.
 
It was the highest showing since the Highlanders finished runner-up at the C&F Bank Intercollegiate March 21-22, 2011.
 
Senior Paul Woodson wrapped up the final round with a three-over 75 and finished 12th on the individual leaderboard. 
 
The Radford leader throughout the majority of the fall, Michael Wade recorded a 221 and tied for 21st.  Callum Tarren garnered a tie for 41st with a 227, while Ryan Rettberg was one stroke behind Tarren at 228.
 
Tanner Carbaugh carded the second-best score of the day for Radford with a 74 and totaled 229. 

The tournament was held at the Links at Stono Ferry.  
 
The Highlanders are back in action March 11-13 in the Battle at the Beach held at the Surf Club in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
