MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Michael Wade and
Weston Eklund each posted one-under first rounds and the Radford men's golf team is tied for fourth after the first day of the Bash at the Beach Sunday afternoon.
Wade and Eklund tied their best round of the spring with a 70 (-1) after the first 18 holes. Each player is one stroke off the individual leader, Vaita Guillaume of Campbell and Daniel Kim of Gardner-Webb.
Callum Tarren fired a two-over 73, also tying his career-low, and is currently tied for 17th in a 92-player field.
The Radford foursome carded a 291 (+7) and is tied for fourth overall. The Highlanders are three shots back of Xavier, who holds the team lead at 288.
Tanner Carbaugh recorded the fourth score for Radford with his seven-over 78. He is currently tied for 53rd.
The second annual event is being played at The Surf Golf and Beach Club in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Fifteen teams are entered in the 54-hole, par-71 tournament. The course is 6,817 yards.
The Highlanders begin round two tomorrow morning with a 9:40 tee time.
