RADFORD MEN’S GOLF FINISHES THIRD IN BASH AT THE BEACH

RESULTS

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Radford men's golf team finished third for the second consecutive tournament and Weston Eklund wrapped up another tournament in the Top-5 in the finale of the Bash at the Beach Tuesday afternoon.
 
The Highlanders (291-291-287) posted a final-round 287, the second lowest score of any team in the field, and finished third for the second straight event (3rd – Charleston Shootout).  It was the fourth round this year Radford shot in the 280's and the 869 team score was the lowest since the season-opening event.
 
Eklund (70-70-70, 210) carded another one-under day to finish fourth overall.  His 54-hole tally of 210 tied a career-low.  It was the second time this year Eklund has finished fourth and was his fourth Top-10 finish.  Furthermore, Eklund recorded his team-leading 12th round at par or lower.
 
Michael Wade carded a one-over 72 and brought his total to two-over 215.  Wade finished just behind Eklund in a tie for sixth place.  He is now second on the team with 10 rounds at or under par.
 
Tanner Carbaugh completed the final 18 holes with a career-low 71, four strokes better than his previous best.  Carbaugh leaped 11 positions up the leaderboard to finish in a tie for 45th (225, +12). 
 
Penciling in as Radford's third score was Callum Tarren.  Tarren shot another consistent round at three-over 74.  He also finished at a career-best 222 (+9).
 
Rounding out the Radford competitors was Paul Woodson, who shot a final-round 76 to total 231 (+18). 
 
The second annual event was played at The Surf Golf and Beach Club in Myrtle Beach, S.C.  It was setup as a 54-hole, par-71 tournament with 15 competing schools.  The course measured out to 6,817 yards.
 
The Highlanders return to the links March 26-27 to compete in the C&F Bank Intercollegiate - played on The Woods Course.
