Series History: Radford leads 52-12

RADFORD, Va. – For the second straight year, sixth-seeded Radford women's basketball and No. 3 Winthrop will meet in the Big South Tournament Quarterfinals at the Millis Center in High Point, N.C.  Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY
♦ In the longest standing series for the Highlanders, Radford holds a 52-12 overall mark against Winthrop.  In neutral site games, Radford holds a 4-2 edge.

SETTING THE STAGE
♦ Radford is 32-15 all-time in Big South Tournament games, with a 10-8 mark in the quarterfinals.  Winthrop holds the edge in head-to-head quarterfinal matchups, 3-1; however, Radford is 6-3 overall against the Eagles in the tournament.
♦ Last year, the two squads met in the opening round with Winthrop taking a 59-38 triumph at the Millis Center.
♦ Radford continues to lead the Big South in steals and ranks 14th in the nation with 12.2 per game.  The Highlanders have recorded 10 or more steals in 19 games.
♦ The Big South's third leading scorer Da'Naria Erwin Spencer paces the offense with 17.4 points per game and is fresh of tying her season-high with 27 points at Liberty.  Ashley Buckhannon charts 14.8 points per contest and has eight or more assists in three of the last four games.
♦ Erwin Spencer has 14 20-point outings this year while Buckhannon has eight. The duo has hit the mark in each of the last three games.
♦ With five more three-pointers, Buckhannon would tie the single season record for trifectas (67 - Patrinda Toney).  She currently sits in second place.
♦ Erwin Spencer became the fourth player to make the list in both career steals (178) and assists (271).  She is also nearing the Top-10 in scoring and needs just 38 points to make that list, as well.  She would join Stephanie Howard, Patrinda Toney and Johnette Walker as the only four players in history to make the Top-10 in all three categories.
♦ Victoria Hamilton and Sarah Tabb lead the way on the glass with their 7.4 and 5.3 rebounding averages, respectively.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES
♦ Winners of three of its last four games, Winthrop enters 18-12, 12-6 in league play, and garners the No. 3 seed in the tournament.
♦ Dequesha McClanahan leads the charge at 20.8 points and 7.3 assists per game - best in the conference and fourth in the nation.  Diana Choibekova charts 16.1 points while contributing 6.5 boards and Samiya Wright also averages double figures with 13.4 points per contest.
♦ Choiebekova (4.0) helps the Eagles sink over seven 3-point field goals per game.  The Eagles lead the league in offensive rebounds (18.0) and are second in five categories.
