SCOUTING THE RED FLASH
♦  St. Francis returns all six starters from a team that finished seventh in the NEC a year ago. The Red Flash opened their 2012 slate at the West Virginia Invitational, going 1-2. SFU defeated host WVU, 3-2, before falling to Loyola (Md.) and Central Conn. State to end the tourney.

♦  The Red Flash are led by Amand Zahumensky with 2.69 kills per set and Elizabeth Williams with 1.15 blocks per set. RU won the lone meeting with St. Francis.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
♦  The Citadel welcomes five freshman and return five sophomores from 2011, to go along with four seniors and one junior. The Bulldogs opened their season in Las Vegas, Nev., going 0-3 against Northern Arizona, host UNLV, and CSU Bakersfield.

♦  Ise d'Angelo leads The Citadel with 2.56 kills per set. RU owns a 1-0 edge in the series with the Bulldogs.

SCOUTING THE RACERS
♦  Murray State returns eight players from last year's squad, including three starters, that went 8-23. The Racers played at the IPFW Invitational last weekend, losing to the Mastodons, Kent State and Cleveland State.

♦  Kristin Besselsen and Michelle Lazorchak lead MSU with 3.62 and 3.44 kills per set, respectively. The Highlanders and Murray State have never met.

LAST TIME OUT
♦  Radford made a trip out to Virginia's tidewater region for a Tuesday matinee with Hampton. The Highlanders fought hard before falling 3-1 (25-13, 25-22, 26-28, 25-23) to the Pirates. For the hosts, it was their first win in the four-match series with RU.

ON DECK
♦  Once the Highlanders wrap up their home tournament with Murray State at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, the squad will hit the road once again for its next set of contests.

♦  Radford will travel to the “wild and wonderful” state of West Virginia for the Golden Horseshoe Challenge hosted by WVU in Morgantown. While there, the Highlanders will face Wright State, the Mountaineers and St. Peter's.
