VOLLEYBALL BATTLES JMU IN HARRISONBURG ON TUESDAY

RADFORD, Va. –
The Radford volleyball team is in the midst of an eight-match stretch of contests away from the Dedmon Center, playing I-81 rival James Madison at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
 
SCOUTING THE DUKES
♦  JMU rides a three-match win streak into Tuesday's tilt with the Highlanders. After starting the season 1-5, the Dukes have right the ship.
 
♦  Tuesday's intra-state contest marks the 28th meeting all-time between the two institutions, with JMU leading 23-4.
 
♦  The Dukes are led by Natalie Abel with 3.43 kills per set and Danielle Erb with 3.13 kills per set. Megan Wiechmann is the leading setter for James Madison with 300 assists thus far. Defensively, Katie Daoral charts nearly four digs per set to lead the Dukes in that category. Lizzy Briones is the top blocker for JMU with 1.06 per set.
 
GETTING OUT THE BROOMS AND SETTING RECORDS
 
 ♦  The Highlanders competed in the WVU Golden Horseshoe Challenge this past weekend, going 2-1. RU recorded sweeps of Wright State and Saint Peter's, while falling to host West Virginia in four sets on Saturday. The squad now has four sweeps to its credit for the season.
 
♦  Yacine Meyer and Rachel Fertitta were recognized for their stellar play over the two days by landing spots on the all-tournament team. Meyer charted a career-high 25 digs against the Mountaineers, while setting a personal-best 13 kills in the victory over Wright State. In both matches, she posted double-doubles.
 
♦  Fertitta also set a new career high with nine kills against WVU, while attacking at a personal-best .615 clip in the Wright State match.
 
ON DECK
♦  Radford will compete in its last regular-season tournament Friday and Saturday in Philadelphia, Pa. The Crowne Plaza Philadelphia West Penn Invitational will feature the Highlanders battling George Mason and Rutgers on Friday and host Penn on Saturday.
