GORWITZ PACES CROSS COUNTRY AT ADIDAS/WINTHROP INVITATIONAL

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Brian Gorwitz finished 26th in a pack of 221 runners on Saturday morning to help the Radford men's cross country team finish 10th out of 27 squads at the Adidas/Winthrop Invitational.
 
Behind Gorwitz's time of 25:46.18 was Ryan Farnan, who was coming off a win at last week's Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational. Farnan crossed the finish line in a personal-best 26:05.17 to end up in 38th place. Alan Weaver finished 64th with a personal-record time of 26:47.51, while Daniel Moniak finished 77th at 27:14.86.
 
Sam Keltner came in 90th with a pace of 27:28.70, while Chris Weeks finished 101st at 27:47.46.
 
Radford's total time of 2:13:22.42 was just one second behind host Winthrop for ninth place, while Louisville posted a 2:04:34.34 ledger to best runner-up Appalachian State by two minutes. The Cardinal's Ernest Kibet took the individual title with a pace of 24:13.17 to edge USC Upstate's Gilbert Kemboi by one second.
 
On the women's side, Hannah Scheren led the Highlanders with a time of 19:56.18 to finish 81st out of 251 runners. Emily Marshall posted a pace of 20:30.21, while Madeline Thomas had a 21:03.00 mark. Sabrina Romano came in at 21:26.77 for a new career-best time and Ashley Lounsbury crossed the finish line in 22:10.79.

Alyssa Walker (22:11.44), Casey Clark (22:32.70) and Katie Hickey (24:22.40) rounded out the Radford runners competing in the Palmetto State.
 
Appalachian State won the women's race with a total time of 1:32:35.98, over one minute better than runner-up Liberty. Jemeli Sang ran away with the individual race with a 17:46.16 mark.
 
The Highlanders' next meet will be at the Charlotte Invitational next Saturday. The races are set to begin at 3:00 p.m.
