HIGHLANDERS STEP OUT OF CONFERENCE TO BATTLE N.C. CENTRAL ON TUESDAY

RADFORD, Va. –
The Radford volleyball team plays its next-to-last non-conference matchup on Tuesday with a 7:00 p.m. tilt with N.C. Central. RU will be looking to win its third straight in the series over the Eagles when the two hook up inside the Dedmon Center.
 
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
♦  Tuesday's contest marks the third meeting all-time between the two institutions, with the Highlanders owning the 2-0 advantage.
 
♦  The Eagles are led by Christine Anthony with 3.56 kills per set, while Rondon Arrufat puts down three kills per set. Pineiro Rabell has tossed out 314 assists for the season as the lead setter.
 
♦  Defensively, Anthony leads the squad in digs as well - 2.13 per set. Kalin Russell is the lead blocker for NCCU, rejecting nearly one attack per set.
 
LAST TIME OUT
♦  Despite out-hitting its opponent in two of the three sets, Radford fell 3-0 (25-27, 15-25, 22-25) to Liberty in the Big South opener for both squads on Friday night inside the Vines Center. The Lady Flames improved to 10-4 overall and 1-0 in league play. The Highlanders dropped to 8-8 on the season, 0-1 in the Big South.
 
♦  Emily Carlin put down 11 kills and added 10 digs to lead the Radford attack. Cheyanne James contributed eight kills and Katelyn Meeks, the Big South Co-Defensive Player of the Week, chipped in 13 digs. Yacine Meyer also charted double-figure digs with 10. Christine Beckham dished out 20 assists, while Jena Braden tossed out 12.
 
ON DECK
♦  The Highlanders jump right back into Big South play on Friday and Saturday, traveling to the western mountains of North Carolina. RU takes on UNC Asheville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, before wrapping up the weekend against Gardner-Webb on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
