CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- As part of the league's expansion to 12 member schools for the 2012-13 academic year, the Big South Conference has announced a divisional format for men's basketball.   Radford will compete in the North Division.

The divisional breakdown is below:

Beginning this season, men's basketball will play a 16-game conference schedule that includes two games against divisional opponents (10 total) and one crossover game against the opposing division (six total).  Division champions will be recognized and all 12 teams will participate in the VisitMyrtleBeach.Com Big South Men's Basketball Championship.

Seeding will be by divisions – the top two teams with the best overall Conference won-loss percentage in each division shall receive the top four seeds in the championship and first round byes.  The remaining seeds shall be determined based on division finish.  In the event of a tie for a particular seed, the seed will be determined within each division.

Radford begins its Big South schedule in the 2013 calendar year, a departure from years' past when league play began in December.  The Highlanders open league action with a cross-divisional home game against Charleston Southern on Jan. 5.  North Division action for Radford begins on Jan. 9 against High Point at home.
