RU COMEBACK FALLS SHORT AT CAMPBELL

BOX SCORE BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Radford rallied from a 15-point halftime deficit to take a brief lead in the second half after a 22-4 run put the Highlanders in front 44-43 with 12:22 to play, but the Camels responded and prevailed 69-60.

The Highlanders trailed by as many as 17 points early in the second half and then gathered themselves to force seven quick turnovers into a 16-0 run the eventually turned into a Radford lead on a pair of free throws by Javonte Green. The lead was short-lived, however, as the Camels took the lead for good on the next offensive possession.

"We lost our focus too many times in the first half," RU head coach Mike Jones said. "After that we really battled and played Radford basketball, but there was no question we were fatigued after expending the energy to come back."

R.J. Price finished with 22 points to lead the Highlanders extending his outstanding play over the last three games. Javonte Green added 13 points and a game-high eight rebounds. The Highlanders played the better part of the game without the services of Ya Ya Anderson, who turned an ankle early in the first half and did not return to the contest. Rashun Davis dished out a career high eight assists with three steals.

"This team is showing so much resolve," Jones said. "We are beginning to talk more and trust each other. We are starting to believe and good things are going to start happening."

Radford's sluggish first half allowed the Camels force eight turnovers and commit just two while shooting nearly 50 percent from the floor. Campbell built a 35-20 lead by the intermission holding the Highlanders to just 32 percent from the floor and no trips to the free throw line.

Trey Freeman led the Camels with 17 points. Darian Hooker added 15.

Radford (9-11, 3-3) returns home Saturday to face Winthrop at 4:00 p.m. in the Dedmon Center.
