HIGHLANDERS AND KEYDETS BRACE FOR WEDNESDAY NIGHT SHOWDOWN AT DEDMON

RADFORD, Va. -
Radford and Virginia Military will square off Wednesday night in an important Big South Conference showdown at the Dedmon Center. The Highlanders and the Keydets are tied with High Point just a game behind Campbell in the North Division standings. It is also Beach Night. Tip is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

THE SERIES
♦ Radford leads the all-time series 19-18.
♦ The Highlanders have won 11 of the 16 games played at the Dedmon Center.
♦ The Keydets have won five straight in the series, including last year's quarterfinal matchup in the Big South Tournament.
♦ VMI has won two straight games at the Dedmon Center.
♦ These two teams met on this floor in the 2009 Big South Tournament championship game, which the Highlanders won, 108-94.

SCOUTING THE KEYDETS
♦ VMI enters Wednesday's game with a 9-10 overall mark and a 4-3 record in the Big South. The Keydets, the Highlanders, and High Point are all tied for second place a game behind Campbell in the North Division standings.
♦ The Keydets are led by Big South preseason player of the year, Stan Okoye. He leads the league in scoring at 20.2 ppg and is second in rebounding at 8.7 rpg.
♦ Okoye is not VMI's only threat, however. D.J. Covington is 16th in the Big South in scoring at 13.3 ppg and 10th in rebounding at 6.6 rpg. Covington leads the conference in field goal percentage at .543 from the floor.
♦ Rodney Glasgow is fourth in the league in assists at 4.5 apg. Glasgow also averages in double figures at 10.8 ppg.
♦ VMI is the top scoring team in the Big South at 78.0 ppg. That ranks the Keydets 18th in the country in scoring. They hit an average of 9.2 three-point field goals per game, which ranks atop the Big South and fifth in the nation.

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
R.J. Price is averaging 16.9 points per game in conference play (7 games). Price is also shooting .773 from the free throw line (17-22) and .411 (23-56) from behind the three-point arc. In each of RU's last two wins, which were both by a single point, Price has hit the game-winning basket.
Javonte Green is averaging 15.4 points and 8.7 rebounds per game in Big South play, plus a league-leading 3.6 offensive rebounds and 2.3 steals per contest.

STATS NUGGETS
♦ The Highlanders lead the Big South in steals per game at 9.6. That ranks the team 13th in the nation in that category.
Javonte Green leads the Big South in steals at 2.3 per game.
Javonte Green recorded his fifth double-double this season with 13 points and 13 rebounds vs. Longwood. He now has 12 career double-doubles.
Javonte Green currently ranks 8th all-time at RU in offensive rebounds with 151.
Javonte Green scored 20 of Radford's 27 first-half points vs. Winthrop.
R.J. Price leads the Big South in three-point field goals made per game at 3.0.
R.J. Price scored a career-high 30 points vs. Longwood. Price became the first Highlander since Art Parakhouski (2/2/10 vs. VMI) to score 30 points in a game.
R.J. Price has moved into 10th place all-time at RU with 118 career three-pointers.
Brandon Holcomb grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds at Gardner-Webb.
Blake Smith currently ranks fourth in career steals at RU with 179.
Rashun Davis had a career-high and RU season-high eight assists at Campbell.

TIDBITS
♦ Radford is 7-2 at home this season and 3-1 at home in Big South contests.
♦ Radford overcame a halftime deficit vs. Winthrop. It was the first time in 11 attempts this season that the Highlanders came back to win after trailing at the break.
Ya Ya Anderson missed Saturday's game vs. Winthrop with an injury. He is out indefinitely with a sprained right ankle.
♦ RU has won five straight overtime games dating to a 73-71 loss at Navy on 11/29/08.
♦ Radford has won nine straight home overtime games dating back to the home-opener of the 2002-03 season vs. Howard.
