MEN'S HOOPS WELCOMES BREVARD TO DEDMON ON SATURDAY

Fresh off its 89-78 win over Chattanooga in its home opener, the Radford men's basketball team plays host Saturday to Brevard at the Dedmon Center. Tip is set for 4:00 p.m., and the game will be carried live on the RU Sports Radio Network and the Big South Network.

SERIES NOTES
• Radford and Brevard have met twice prior to today's game. The Highlanders defeated the Tornados in the season opener of the 2008-09 season, 74-55, and last year in the Dedmon Center as well, 81-53.

SCOUTING THE TORNADOS
• Brevard opened its official season Wednesday with a 94-89 home loss to Lees-McRae.
• Dominique Pickett scored a team-high 25 points to lead the Tornados. Darius Moose posted a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Jake Pifer added 11 points in a starting role, and Trevon Shaw knocked in 14 off the bench.
• Brevard has played two other exhibition games this season, a 93-66 loss at Wake Forest and an 86-45 loss at UNC Asheville.
• The Tornados finished 4-22 last season, including 2-11 on the road.

LAST TIME OUT
• Radford won its 11th straight home opener last Monday with an impressive 89-78 victory over Chattanooga. Javonte Green posted his 16th career double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds. Rashun Davis added 13 points, and Ya Ya Anderson scored in double figures for the second straight game with 12.
• Radford is now 35-5 in 40 years of home openers.
• The 89 points vs. Chattanooga was most points scored against a Division I opponent in the Mike Jones coaching era.

HIGHLANDERS IN THE CAREER AND SEASON RECORD BOOKS
• Javonte Green ranks 7th all-time at RU with 187 career offensive rebounds.
• Javonte Green missed tying the single-season school record for steals by one steal in 2012-13. He finished with 66, one behind the record of 67 held by Chris Hawkins and Phil Young.
• R.J. Price ranks 9th all-time in career three-point field goals made with 148.

HARD TO BELIEVE STAT
• Jalen Carethers has 18 career steals in his first two years as a Highlander. They have all come one at a time in 18 different games.
